Overheard

When the professor confronted the student about the fact that his paper was copied word for word from Wikipieda, the student responded: How do you know I wasn't the one who posted it to Wikipedia?

I had a student claim, in writing, that the reason I was able to find his paper at an online paper mill is that he had sold it to them. He thought his case was so good that he tried to use the University's appeal process to get his failing grade overturned. I was able to use the Google Cache to show that the paper had been posted to the site while he was still in high school.

What a scumbag. Was he punished for his academic dishonesty beyond failing your course?

Of course not.
